Christian rockers Fireflight stepped away from the road for a while, but they returned with renewed energy and two CD’s called “Who We Are: The Head and The Heart.” The first disc of five songs is The Head portion, while the second disc of five songs is the The Heart portion. “All of these things that we’re putting into the songs feel like confessions of our own heart,” said vocalist Dawn Michele on the band’s website. “We hope that the pain and suffering and struggle that we’ve experienced in our own lives are going to be congruent with the lives of other people. In doing that, we hope it’s a window into their own heart, their own suffering, their own pain, and their own victory, their own joy.” The music features pure rock with a heavy dose of driving guitars. The message is hope through different challenges of life. “Bury the Dead” talks about forgiveness: the struggle and the necessity. The title cut, “Who We Are,” focuses on Christians making a difference in the world, while “Keep Your Head Up” centers on encouragement while working through trials. If you like your chili hot and spicy, this is your record. (RockFest Records)
