Passion, a student Christian movement, started in 1995 in Atlanta, Ga. Passion’s mantra says, “Unite students in worship, prayer, and justice for spiritual awakening in this generation.” Passion has produced numerous musical records based upon its annual conference. Church songs such as “Glorious Day,'' “How Great is Our God,” and “10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)” are among Passion’s songs. Artists have included heavyweights Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, Crowder, and Christy Nockels. Passion returns with its latest record, Burn Bright. It offers five songs and features the talents of worship leaders such as Kristian Stanfill, Melodie Malone, and Chidima. Highlights include the title cut, which states in part, “I’m gonna burn bright, I got just one life to shine like stars in the heavens.” The chorus of “Beautiful Jesus” says, “Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful Jesus; How lovely, how sweet is the name; Wonderful, merciful, miracle Jesus; How worthy, how precious, how awesome the name.” The music is resonant with a worshipful, pop sound and lyrics that honor and praise Jesus. Passion occupies a high standard in the Christian contemporary music sphere, and this work lives up to that place. (Sixstep Records/Capitol Music Group)
