California Kids Celebrate Yuck Day

The middle school group at Crossroads Christian Reformed Church in San Marcos, Calif., works all year on projects to help others. But once a year they celebrate Yuck Day. It’s a wild day just for fun. “It can get messy and disgusting,” said Danae Lapke, director of middle school ministries.

But kids don’t seem to mind having peanut butter smeared all over their faces or putting their faces in a large bowl of oatmeal to find a prize. The winning group each year signs the Yuck Cup, described as “a weird furry little dude on a cheesy plastic cup.”
