Two of the Christian Reformed Church’s three congregations in Kansas, Luctor CRC and Dispatch CRC, joined denominational 150th anniversary festivities with a celebration of their own.

During two worship services June 17 in Dispatch, Rev. Alfred Mulder, former director of New Church Development for Christian Reformed Home Missions and also a former pastor of Luctor, spoke. Luctor’s pastor, Rev. Jeff Van Der Weele, and Dispatch’s pastor, Rev. Pat Hennen, also took part. Short histories of the two congregations were also presented.

The occasion was especially memorable for pianist Helen Van Kooten, since she had also played in 1957, when the CRC celebrated its centennial.

A member of the Luctor church, Van Kooten was recognized for her many years of contributing to worship as a pianist, organist, and keyboard player.
