Wayne Harris, volleyball coach at Redeemer University College in Ancaster, Ontario, was recently named the Ontario College Athletic Association’s (OCAA) Men’s Volleyball Coach of the Year.

Harris took the team from a record of 5 wins and 6 losses in 2007, his first year, to 13 wins and 3 losses this past year.

“Wayne has taken the men’s volleyball team to new heights,” said Peter Reid, Redeemer’s Athletic Co-coordinator.

Under Harris’s leadership, the volleyball team and its players have seen amazing results. One of its players, Ryan Talsma, earned three All-Canadian Awards—a prestigious national honor—and was named both OCAA Volleyball Player of the Year and OCAA Athlete of the Year (see The Banner, May 2010).

Nationally, the college earned a fourth-place ranking—Redeemer’s highest ever.
