First Christian Reformed Church in Hanford, Calif., celebrated its 100th anniversary with the theme “Forever Faithful.”

“The celebration was an amazing day blessed by God. Our worship service was awe-inspiring and the luncheon was a great time had by all,” said Nancy Azevedo, secretary at Hanford CRC.

Members of the congregation received a special-edition centennial pictorial directory as a keepsake. In a special newsletter, many people, including former pastors, shared memories of growing up at First during its 100 years.

“People come and go. Traditions get going and fade away. The one thing on earth that’s not going away is the church. Congregations may come and go. Denominations may come and go. But the church is forever, because it is the bride of Christ and he is forever,” said Lambert Sikkema, pastor of Hanford CRC.
