Aren Plante, 19, of Hamilton, Ont., is enjoying “being able to network and meet the denominational leaders” at Synod 2015. “It’s an honor to be chosen as the youth voice, especially on issues that I feel very passionate about.”

Plante is one of seven young adults, aged 18 to 26, serving as young adult representatives at the annual leadership meeting of the Christian Reformed Church.

“Everyone wants to hear what we have to say,” said Ashley Bootsma, 24, from St. Catharines, Ont. “People are thanking us for speaking.”

Youri Lee, 25, is a Master’s of Divinity student at Calvin Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, Mich. “I thought that coming to synod would be a good opportunity to learn about the denomination,” she said. “I am impressed by how in-depth the conversation is.”

“We get to glean wisdom and knowledge from more experienced members of our denomination,” said Justin Ver Woerd, 24, of Abbotsford, B.C., enjoying his second synod as a young adult representative.
