Imagine Justin Bieber as a classical pianist dressed in a nice suit and sweater with an artsy scarf around his neck. Or maybe not. How about this: Jan Lisiecki is a Polish-Canadian prodigy (with carefully tousled hair) who recorded two of Mozart’s best-known piano concertos for the prestigious label Deutsche Grammophon (DG)—when he was only 16. Playing with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, he displays a perfect command of his instrument and a lovely touch. Now 18, Lisiecki is currently on a worldwide tour and has just released a second album with DG, a recording of Chopin’s Etudes. Not exactly “Baby, Baby,” but definitely Romantic.
