Though children may be exposed to the Lord’s Prayer at home, school, and church, they might not always understand what Jesus’ words mean. In this artistic, reflective rendering of the Lord’s Prayer, making use of the King James Version, illustrator Richard Jesse Watson and author Rick Warren team up to help children better understand Jesus’ words.

Watson’s superb illustrations capture not only the variety of children in God’s good creation, but also the intensity and complexity of their emotions—joy, apprehension, wonder, worship, confusion, and reflection. Warren’s commentary provides a brief explanation of each section of the prayer, as well as an additional prayer of thanksgiving to accompany it.

In author’s notes, Watson relates the joy he experienced as he painted the illustrations—“so much so, that I sometimes felt like I could fly.” The joy he experienced is evident throughout this children’s picture book. (Zonderkidz)
