If you are a woman of a certain age (in this instance, anyone post-college age), you may keep seeing the same names pop up on your Facebook feed as friends share links to the latest post from their favorite bloggers. Information overload may keep you from following links down the rabbit holes of the blogosphere, but there are a number of blogs of excellent quality that are worth reading. Here are just a few:
Rachel Held Evans
Evans is the author of Evolving in Monkey Town and A Year of Biblical Womanhood (see Banner review); her insightful blog is enriched by comments from engaged readers. Postings range from “deep thoughts” to humor and interviews. There’s even a sort of roundtable discussion on Duck Dynasty.
Jen Hatmaker
Hatmaker has come to prominence with her book, 7: An Experimental Mutiny Against Excess. Her blog addresses myriad topics. One she has revisited over the years with refreshing honesty is the experience of adding two children to her family through international adoption.
Mihee Kim-Kort
An ordained Presbyterian pastor, Kim-Kort is the mother of three very young children. Her husband is also a pastor; as you can imagine, they lead very busy lives. Her blog, “First Day Walking,” includes beautiful reflections scattered with quotes, Scripture, and poetry. Check out the “Series” tab to read past series of posts.
Osheta Moore
Osheta Moore blogs from what she calls “the intersection” of many cultures and ideas. Her husband is a minister in an urban church, and on her site, “Shalom in the City,” she writes with a likeable vulnerability about motherhood, food, culture, God, and her victories and failures in all of these areas.
Ann Voskamp
Also known as the author of the popular book One Thousand Gifts, Ann Voskamp is a farmer’s wife with six children. Her inspirational blog, “A Holy Experience,” describes the beauty in the midst of the chaos of life; she includes lots of photography with her words.
