Offering a four-year liberal arts degree in ten concentrations, along with sunny southern California weather, Providence Christian College in Pasadena attracts students from across North America.
Providence Christian College celebrates receiving accreditation.
Now the school has another strong attraction: WASC accreditation. In a recent press release, the school announced, “Providence Christian College was recently informed by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) that it has been granted Initial Accreditation.”
At a special chapel to announce the news, Dr. Dominic Aquila, college president, said, “Although Providence has always pursued and maintained the highest standards of academic excellence in the classroom, receiving accreditation underscores an important milestone for Providence and its constituents, as well as for current and future students.”
Having accreditation helps students pursuing graduate studies as well as validating current degree programs. Accreditation means that schools have submitted themselves to accountability for their educational quality and relevance.
Receiving accreditation has been a long process. While Providence has been serving students since 2005, they began the accreditation process in 2009. Onsite visits and reviews followed.
Michael Kiledjian, the school’s director of advancement, said, “As early as the 1970s, more than three generations of thoughtful folks in the CRC have contemplated and dreamed of a Reformed College in the Western United States. Accreditation is the confirmation that this dream is coming true.”
Aquila said, “Our accreditation from WASC also means that Providence is the only WASC accredited Reformed undergraduate institution of higher education on the West Coast.”
