Alberta College Gets Top Marks for Student Satisfaction

The King’s University College in Edmonton, Alberta, was ranked number one in Canada for student satisfaction, according to the annual survey of colleges and universities conducted by Maclean’s magazine, a widely read Canadian weekly publication.

Maclean’s university rankings issue is the authority for many students when planning their education in Canada.

In the Canadian University Survey Consortium that measures student satisfaction, students surveyed strongly agreed when asked about the quality of teaching they received and if they were satisfied with their decision to attend this university.

In the National Survey of Student Engagement, also published in Maclean’s, students were asked, “If you could start over, would you go to the institution you are now attending?” Sixty-four percent of first-year students and 65 percent of senior-year students surveyed said “definitely yes,” a higher ranking than any other university in the country.

“At King’s everyone is really accepting and friendly,” said second-year history student Beth Sandle (pictured). “The small class sizes, usually around 40 people, make it easy to feel comfortable around new people and make it easy to get to know everybody. Professors are always responsive when you have a question.”

The King’s also continues to score high in The Globe and Mail Overall Student Satisfaction Survey. The Globe and Mail is one of Canada’s major newspapers. The recently released report surveyed university students across the country. The King’s ranking by students gave the institution an A+ in the following categories: overall quality of teaching and learning, out-of-class communication between students and instructors, academic reputation of faculty members, sense of personal safety and security, and class size.
