Dr. Melanie J. Humphreys has been named the fourth president of The King’s University College in Edmonton, Alberta. She succeeds Dr. J. Harry Fernhout, who retires at the end of June after eight years of service.
Humphreys, who grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia, comes to The King’s from Wheaton College in Illinois, where she was dean of student care and services. She is a member of an evangelical Anglican church.
Humphreys has degrees from Azusa Pacific University in California and Trinity Western University in Langley, British Columbia.

She is highly respected by her peers, supervisors, and direct reports. Most important, she understands and is excited by King’s vision and mission and has been providing transformational leadership in similar Christian university college environments for years. We are confident she is the strategic and visionary leader and gifted community builder to take us into the next phase of King’s promising future.”
“Dr. Humphreys’s appointment represents significant milestones for The King’s University College,” said Fernhout. “She is a woman and she is not [Christian Reformed]!”
The announcement of the appointment was made to a standing-room-only crowd of students, faculty, staff, community members, and special guests on January 14.
