In the summer of 1961, 21 young people from southwestern Ontario traveled by car to southern California for a Young Calvinist Convention (the forerunner of today’s Youth Unlimited Convention events).
Nine people who traveled from Ontario to California for a youth convention in 1961 met for a 50th-year reunion this past summer.
This past summer, nine of them along with their spouses held a 50th-year reunion.
“We shared our life stories and talked about God’s goodness and his blessings, which we experienced on our trip and throughout our lives,” said Coby DeJong of Straffordville, Ontario.
“On our [convention] trip, which for many of us was the first time away from home, we had lots of laughs and made lasting friendships,” she said. “We encourage all young people to experience at least one youth convention. It will change your life.”
