The Sunnyside (Wash.) Christian High School boys’ basketball team took home the state title in March. It is their sixth win in a decade.
Coach Dean Wagenaar, a member of Sunnyside Christian Reformed Church, said, “The expectations were high because of past success, but through some thorough preparation, the players played well and were able to finish strong.”
Trevor Wagenaar earned All-Tournament Team honors and Steve Broersma was named Most Valuable Player of the state tournament team. Both players are members of Sunnyside CRC.
“The neatest reward for me is to watch the players, families, and fans enjoy the excitement and rewards of this accomplishment,” said Wagenaar.
