An outdoor live nativity scene will be re-created for the 11th year at Brookside Christian Reformed Church, Grand Rapids, Mich. About 175 members participate in the production, which includes live actors assisted by sheep, goats, a llama, and a miniature horse. “We created this out of a need to do something for our community,” said organizer Janet Krosschell. While the shepherds warm themselves at the fire outdoors, older folks can watch the show on an indoor screen and children can participate in the “Neighbors of Nazareth” interactive town. The event, held no matter what the weather, usually draws between 800 and 1,200 people each year. For information about this year’s event Dec. 8-10, see www.brooksidecrc.org, or call the church at 616-452-3191.
