Reformed Bible College in Grand Rapids, Mich., has been renamed Kuyper College, in honor of the late Dutch theologian and politician Abraham Kuyper, who taught God’s sovereignty over every sphere of life.
The new name was needed to better represent the college, said President Nick Kroeze. “We have really grown in the scope and breadth of our programs, and it is not appropriate to conceive of us as just a Bible college any longer.”
Other reasons included misperceptions that led non-Reformed people to not consider the college, and a desire for a more neutral name to help students from anti-Christian countries attain visas, Kroeze said.
