Classis Chicago South paired its fall meeting with a conference at Trinity Christian College, Palos Heights, Ill., to offer delegates an extra learning opportunity while attending to the business of the day.
Approximately 250 people from the greater-Chicago area joined delegates to hear Richard Mouw, president of Fuller Theological Seminary, speak on Calvinism for the 21st century and to attend workshops designed to help both pastors and laypeople become more effective in ministry and witness.
Mouw spent time specifically with delegates in dialogue about the church, and delegates joined students for a Trinity chapel service led by Mouw.
The “Faith Engaged: The Church in Today’s World” conference was hosted by Trinity as part of its Church Connection Initiative.
Rev. Gerald Erffmeyer of Orland Park (Ill.) CRC said, “Having the conference with classis was an excellent idea for renewal. It was stimulating to hear a speaker who has a broader perspective.”
