Selah celebrates 25 years in the Christian music industry with its “Greatest Hymns Vol. 3.” “It (the project) harkens back to the spirit of our very first album, Be Still My Soul, which was filled with hymns and classics set to simple piano/vocal arrangements,” said Selah’s Allan Hall in a release. “We wanted to involve our fans in selecting the songs this time around, so after receiving thousands of responses with many wonderful suggestions, we narrowed it down to the most requested songs and got to work. This album was made for them with much thought, care and love.” The record features hymns such as “Blessed Assurance,” “Sweet Hour of Prayer,” “Oh, How I Love Jesus” and “Rock of Ages.” The trio also offers their rendition of the popular pop-gospel 1970s song, “Put Your Hand in the Hand.” They also honor veteran Christian contemporary artists Russ Taft and Twila Paris, covering Taft’s song, “Praise the Lord,” and Paris’s 1980s and 1990s worship hits with a medley. This 13-track recording provides Selah’s beautiful harmonies in an inspirational way. (3Cre8tive)
