Joking apart, my wife, Margo, and I have accepted a call extended by West End Christian Reformed Church in Edmonton, Alberta. The call is to ministry of the Word on a half-time basis. I will doff my hat as theological editor of Faith Alive but retain my hat as Banner editor. God willing, we will move to Edmonton and I will assume my duties with the West End congregation in early December, traveling to Grand Rapids, Mich., now and again to attend Banner- related meetings.
This experiment will bring the role of editor full circle. More than a century ago those responsibilities were fulfilled by a pastor serving in a local congregation. The time and technology seem right to give that another whirl.
We’re confident that my move to Alberta will keep me as much in touch with you, our readers, as ever. I consider my firsthand communication with you a real gift and am not about to trade it away.
Margo and I are enthusiastic about moving to Edmonton and taking on new responsibilities and forming and re-forming relationships. But we’re sad about leaving so many relatives, friends, colleagues, jobs, and Neland CRC faith-family members behind. They have all been such a blessing. We’ll miss all of you lots! Thanks for all you mean to us. And we’re not kidding!
