Singer-songwriter Brooke Robertson depicts hope and healing in her latest release, “Taking My Voice Back.” The Louisiana native co-wrote all 11 songs on the CD, which features anthems and ballads with a soft pop sound served up with a slice of country. The title cut expounds on the first time she shared the story of her childhood sexual abuse. “As I was writing the song, I felt in my heart that I needed to contact my abuser,” Robertson said in a release. “I was able to tell that person I forgave them and that God forgives and loves them, too.” Other poignant songs include the first track, “Just Be You,” a bouncy song that encourages folks to live authentic lives, and the closing song, “See You There,” a tribute to Robertson’s grandmother. “I hope this album will help others feel empowered and encouraged to let hurt go, extend forgiveness and fully embrace who God created them to be,” Robertson said.
