In 1963, when Fred Rogers was ordained as a Presbyterian minister, he was charged with serving children and families through mass media. Beginning in 1968, his television show, Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, became a daily staple for many children.

As the composer and lyricist of more than 200 songs, many of which were introduced on the show, Rogers had a unique opportunity to influence children with biblical insights about the value of each person and what is most essential in life.

In this collection of Rogers’ songs, as well as a few credited to Josie Carey, children are gently encouraged to talk about their feelings, both positive and negative, and to realize the importance of saying “I love you” in a variety of different ways.
Illustrator Luke Flowers’ vivid, cheerful pictures enhance this collection of songs presented as poetry. It is sure to convey to children that they are loved and treasured. (Quirk Books).
