Crowder’s latest record, The EXILE, quickly grabbed the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Christian chart. It’s another stellar performance from a talented singer-songwriter. “I am having the BEST time writing, producing, and releasing these songs. It is so life-giving to make music so that I, along with our people, can articulate the challenge, beauty, and promise associated with these days,” said Crowder in a release.. “The Exile encourages us all that the promise of his presence never leaves us. He is with us always.” The beauty of Crowder’s music is that listeners will hear country, rock, and bluegrass. His instrumentation is fabulous with sounds of steel and rock guitars, banjo, and violin. Crowder also springs some surprises on us: who sings “winner, winner, Chicken Dinner” in one of his songs? “Grave Robber,” the first single, talks about redemption and states “This dead man isn’t dead anymore because of the grave robber.” The mellow song, “Somebody Prayed,” boldly declares in the bridge: “I’ve seen miracles come from feeble words; I’ve seen hospital rooms turned into cathedrals; I’ve seen freedom come to the prisoner; You can’t tell me prayer don’t work.” This album makes the listener appreciate the craft, the music, and the message of a legendary performer.
