Bethel Music’s Cory Asbury’s third full-length recording, “To Love a Fool,” begs repeat listening. The sound is as fresh on repeat listens as it was on the first listen. The music blends soft pop with a mixture of ballads, while the message reveals the intimacy of God’s love. One highlight is “Prodigal Song,” based on the story in the Bible. This song possesses a loving vibe with honest lyrics. “Sparrows” declares God’s faithfulness. Part of the chorus states, “Cause you take good care of me; You take good care of me; You know what I need before I even ask a thing; And you hold me in your hands; With a kindness that never ends.” The song, “Dear God,” has a rousing guitar solo at the end that projects the feeling of a warm blanket on a cold winter night. The project concludes with an updated version of the popular radio single, “The Father’s House.” This album could definitely win some awards for the best music of 2020. (Bethel Music)
