Sidewalk Prophets addresses universal themes such as identity, comparison, doubt, and joy in the mundane in its latest release, The Things That Got Us Here. “There are so many ‘things’ that have brought us all to this moment of our lives,” said frontman Dave Frey in a release. “We hope this album will be used to provide some joy and lasting hope for anyone that listens.” The music consists of high-energy pop and also adds some solid rock guitar elements. The fun song, “Don’t Sweat It,” offers a Reggae feel. Part of the lyric states, “Don’t sweat it; I know you won’t regret it; Just go on and forget it; Don’t let it run away with your life.” Other songs that draw listeners with upbeat sound include “Smile” and “Let Go Your Troubles.” The record is appealing throughout and will delight newcomers as well as fans of Sidewalk Prophets.
