Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow was inspired to create Mary’s Meals by an African boy who, when asked about his dreams for his life, imagined sufficient food and the chance to go to school every day. The Scottish-based charity’s mission is “to provide one good meal every day in a place of education, for hungry impoverished children.”
With self-deprecating humor, humility, and deep reverence for God’s work in response to the prayers of his people,MacFarlane-Barrow’s book shows how, with the help of an army of volunteers, Mary’s Meals has grown into a worldwide movement. Amazed by the way things have come about, MacFarlane-Barrow believes that “prayer and trust in God’s providence as starting points” have been the key to the movement’s growth. (William Collins)
