Benjamin Kornelis, professor of music at Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, has been selected as the 2008 Commissioning Project Recipient by the Iowa Choral Directors Association and the Iowa Composers Forum.
Kornelis’s as-yet-unwritten work will be presented at a summer symposium, after which association members and choral ensembles may perform the work royalty free for one year. This year’s composition is to be written for a children’s choir. Kornelis is currently director of the Siouxland Boys Choir.
Kornelis has been a music professor at Dordt since 1994, and he directs the Dordt College Chorale, Concert Choir, and Kantorei. He is a member of Covenant Christian Reformed Church, Sioux Center.
