The Banner and Reformed Worship garnered several awards recently from the Associated Church Press (ACP) and the Evangelical Press Association (EPA).
The ACP awarded The Banner an honorable mention overall in the denominational magazine category. The judge commented, “Nice, attractive design. Packs lots into a few pages.”
“Losses of the Heart” by Wm. Nathan Sneller (November 2006) received a first-place award, and the “Just for Kids” pages garnered a first place for Sandy Swartzentruber, Joanne De Jonge, Carol Reinsma, and illustrator Scott Holladay. The judge wrote, “Brightly written items, imaginatively presented, and fun. . . . ‘Just for Kids’ rocks!”
In addition to second-place awards for “Eight Days of Silence” by Phil Reinders (November 2006) and the poem “A Prayer for Clarence” by Julia Daining (September 2006), The Banner also received a second place in the design category for art director Dean Heetderks and graphic designers Pete Euwema and Frank Gutbrod.

Jacobsen (March 2006) and for “Praise the Lord with Strings and Flute” by Philip M. Hash (September 2006), as well as an honorable mention for design.
