The Christian Reformed World Relief Committee is on track to deliver a $5 million response to Hurricane Katrina. By early October, more than $3.2 million (US) had already been collected.
A team of volunteers arrived in Hattiesburg, Miss., on Sept. 2 to clear debris, make temporary repairs, help people with paperwork, and lend a listening ear to survivors. A second team was sent to Gulfport, La., on Sept. 16, and a team of 20 volunteers are at work in Beaumont, Texas.
The chaplains of the Christian Reformed Church are also being integrated into the denomination’s relief efforts
