Veteran singer-songwriter Cheri Keaggy returns with her first new music in seven years offering a 15-track personal album, “What I Know to be True.” “This record celebrates life’s joys and sorrows and the seasons God walks us through,” Keaggy said in a release. “Three-and-a-half years ago I received a call from my sister that my father had taken his life. None of us could have imagined he would make that choice. For a long time, I couldn’t think about writing or recording again. But we grieve not without hope, and my journey has been framed through the lens of the hope I have in Jesus.” The sound leans toward inspirational, but there are elements of country, bluegrass and soft pop. A few of the songs spark raw emotion such as “It Hurts to Say Goodbye to You,” “Destination Home,” and “Abandonment Wound.” Others deal with everyday challenges such as “False Anchor” and “Fear.” One hopeful song is “Take My Little, Make It Much.” The chorus states in part: “Take my little; Make it much; Take my nothing; Won’t you meet me here with everything You are; It’s no secret that I’m not enough.” There’s something for everyone in this album as it speaks to the joys and sorrows of life on this earth.
