The Christian Reformed Church’s synod, or general assembly, will meet June 9-15 on the campus of Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Mich. It’s a gathering of church leaders—specifically delegated pastors, elders, and deacons from the CRC’s 49 classes (regional assemblies)—to deliberate and decide on matters of the church. This year delegates will process two reports originally requested by Synod 2019, consider proposals of Church Order changes from Synod 2022, and determine how to respond to the many formal requests—76 of them plus four communications—from narrower assemblies.
To follow the discussion and report on synod’s deliberations and decisions, The Banner’s news editor, Alissa Vernon, and editor-in-chief, Shiao Chong, will be in Grand Rapids along with three reporters: Roxanne Van Farowe, Kristen Parker, and Greg Chandler; and photographer Steven Herppich.
The 628-page agenda is available online from synodical services. Look for The Banner’s “Guide to the Synod Agenda” in the coming days.
