Yes, another Bible storybook, and one worth considering. I Am: 40 Reasons to Trust God takes a refreshing approach to telling the familiar stories. Author Diane Stortz has chosen forty stories, pairing a name for God with each one. Beginning with “Creator-Elohim” and ending with “King of Kings,” the 40 names constitute the titles for each of the sections, along with a statement about that attribute of God.
Each chapter includes the Bible story itself with the Scripture reference, followed by a “What does it mean?” devotional and a prayer. A “Learn More” section often points to the future hope and fulfillment of the story. Each chapter ends with “What Happens Next?”—effectively setting the stage for the next story. The strength of the text compensates for the somewhat predictable illustrations. Recommended for ages 4 through 10 for use in family devotions, church, or school. (Thomas Nelson)
