Christian independent artist John Tibbs pays homage to his Midwestern United States roots with the extended play Heartland. The recording includes five songs plus acoustic versions of three of those songs: “Won’t Let Go,” “Shepherd,” and “Midwest Magic.”
Tibbs’s sound is part rock, part country, and part Americana. He lists popular music icons like Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty as influences, and “Won’t Let Go” has a John Mellencamp feel to it.
The song “Midwest Magic” is a tribute to Tibbs’s wife, Emily; they spend a lot of time apart because of his musician lifestyle. “Shepherd” reflects Tibbs’ recent faith journey and is based on Psalm 23.
If you’re looking for something new and still somehow familiar, come home to Heartland. (John Tibbs)
