Former Newsboys band member Phil Joel now heads the group Zealand; LIBERATED is its first full-length album. Frankly, this could be one of the best works of 2018. There are 10 original songs, and as co-writer, Joel teams up with some of the best Christian songwriters.
The music includes strong pop and rock elements. Two songs in particular stand out. “Deeper Water” reflects on a deeper relationship with God through the various seasons of life. “End of the World,” on a very different note, cries out for God to do his will for a generation desperate for his guidance.
According to Joel, the album centers on freeing people from what holds them back and burdens them so they can enthusiastically take hold of the life and adventure God has for them. (Word)
