Hannah Kerr conveys vulnerability and trust with her latest recording, “As I Am.” “I wrote these songs in the past few years as I’ve gone through seasons of change, fear, joy, and growth,” she said in a release. “Through it all, I’ve learned that there’s nothing I can do to earn the love of God. He sees every detail of my life, and he doesn’t change his mind about me. He loves me AS I AM.” Kerr, who wrote or co-wrote all 14 tracks, draws listeners in with a sweet and powerful voice. The music possesses a good mixture of up-tempo, energizing beats and gentle ballads. The title cut, “As I Am,” stresses that God loves us just the way we are, and the radio single, “Changed” declares God is redeeming all things: “He changed my weeping to rejoicing, And my guilty into grace; Changed the list of wrongs behind me; Into a past erased.” The song “Fear Not” points to God’s faithfulness in fearful times, while “No Conditions” reflects God’s beautiful acceptance of his children. This is an authentic, heartfelt record brimming with God’s love. (Curb Records/Word Entertainment)
