Rev. Peter Borgdorff, former executive director of ministries for the Christian Reformed Church, has been appointed the new president of the Reformed Ecumenical Council.

He replaces Douwe Visser of the Netherlands, who is moving to the staff of the World Alliance of Reformed Churches.

The two organizations have committed to forming a new organization together, the new World Communion of Reformed Churches. Representatives of the two organizations plan to meet in Grand Rapids, Mich., in 2010, hosted by the CRC. Borgdorff is in charge of making the arrangements for that meeting.
