California Churches Combine for Christmas Musical

Two central California Christian Reformed churches are once
again teaming up to produce an evangelistic Christmas musical that will run for two nights in each community.

The large production involves many people from both Christ’s Community CRC in Hayward and Alameda CRC, drawing on vocal, instrumental, drama, and dance talent in the two congregations.  Ellie Hoekenga, worship and music director of the Hayward congregation, is directing Repeat the Sounding Joy, a production that moves from modern day through several eras back to the time of Christ’s birth in Bethlehem. The musical includes several scenes from popular Broadway productions, a fully staged nativity, a Christmas carol sing-along, and a call to audience members to receive Jesus as their Savior.

The two congregations are building on the success of last year’s production of Journey of the Magi.
