Vandals caused thousands of dollars worth of damage Oct. 29 to Western Michigan Christian High School in Muskegon. Fire extinguishers were sprayed in the halls, and dozens of eggs were thrown throughout.

Kay Slater, administrative assistant at the school, said all the damage was in the main areas and that no classrooms were affected. The school hoped the damage would be less than $10,000.

Five high school students, two of whom attend the school, were identified as the culprits. Slater said the students gained access into the building through a door that was not securely locked. School officials chose to handle the matter internally, and criminal charges will not be filed.

Western Michigan Christian High serves some 230 students from 15 Christian Reformed Churches in the Michigan towns of Ferrysburg, Spring Lake, Grand Haven, Fremont, New Era, Muskegon, and Fruitport.

The school remained closed Monday, Oct. 30, for cleanup.
