More than 50 volunteers from River of Life Christian Reformed Church, Athens, Maine, helped rebuild and repaint a corral and barn at the town fairgrounds and resurface a playground with mulch and sand.

It was all part of the church’s community development initiative called Common Grace Community Connection.

River of Life hired Tim Curtis, football coach and a substitute teacher at the local high school, to lead Common Grace.

Common Grace functions with grants from the local classis (regional group of churches), the Maine Community Foundation, and Northeast Community Transformation, an organization in New York City that provides training and leadership for community development to Christian Reformed churches in the northeast United States.
