High school senior Laura Appleton—who attends Hope CRC in Port Perry, Ontario—recently donated 10 inches of her long brown hair to the “Hair for Kids” program, which makes wigs for children undergoing cancer treatment. Watching Appleton’s transformation at the salon was another Hope CRC-er: second grader David Wielinga, who is currently fighting cancer. Wielinga was the inspiration for Appleton’s caring act. “I just wanted to do something in recognition of him,” she said.
