Rev. Robert C. Heerspink has been appointed director of the Back to God Hour, the Christian Reformed Church’s electronic media ministry. He will begin his new position April 1.

Heerspink, who has served on the board of the Back to God Hour since 2000, has served as interim director since last fall. Synod 2005 gave the CRC’s Board of Trustees the authority to ratify the new appointment.

This is an exciting time in the agency’s history, Heerspink said. “Media is changing, and opportunities are changing. We’ve cut back on English-language radio and ‘Primary Focus,’ and at the same time remarkable opportunities for new media are opening up. We’re talking about podcasting, webcasting, blogging, getting back into video.”

Heerspink has been a pastor in the CRC since 1979. He is currently senior pastor of Faith Community CRC, Wyoming, Mich.

He will work out of Grand Rapids, Mich. The Back to God Hour also has offices in Palos Heights, Ill., and Burlington, Ontario. For more information, see the agency’s newly revised website: www.btgh.org.
