“We wish to express our solidarity with the people of Zimbabwe and in particular those Christian leaders who . . . live the gospel of love in the face of hatred and violence.”
That was the declaration of Synod 2008 after hearing from Rev. Kobus Gerber, general secretary of the Dutch Reformed Church (DRC) in South Africa, on the developing crisis in Zimbabwe (p. 37).
Synod 2008 adopted the resolution, urging the governments of Canada, the United States, and South Africa, as well as church leaders across Africa and North America, to take emergency diplomatic action to resolve the crisis.
