Lisa Leva Vanderkooy and Kristin Kamp Vandermolen, members of Hillcrest Community Christian Reformed Church in Calgary, Alberta, recently ran a 42-kilometer (26-mile) marathon to raise money to fight AIDS.
The pair raised more than $5,000 for the Christian Reformed World Relief Committee’s “Embrace AIDS” campaign.
“We are on an Africa Relief Team (ART) at church. We thought raising money for the Embrace AIDS campaign would be a great cause and incentive for us to finish,” explained Vanderkooy.
“It was a very uplifting thing for me. I am proud of what we did and the money we raised.”
