In September delegates of Christian Reformed Churches in Classis Illiana and Classis Northern Illinois traveled to meet together with delegates from Classis Chicago South. Classis meetings (regional gatherings of churches) are generally held in each classis’s own area, but on this occasion delegates of the three Chicago-area regions met at Trinity Christian College, Palos Heights, Ill.
While they conducted business separately, they shared worship and break times. They also participated in a dialogue with Rev. Wesley Granberg-Michaelson, leader of the Reformed Church in America, and Rev. Peter Borgdorff, former executive director of the Christian Reformed Church, on maintaining denominational structures for the health of existing churches and the planting of new ones.
Rev. Roger Nelson of Hope CRC, Oak Forest, Ill., noted, “It was an opportunity to get people together for fellowship and shared vision.”
