With a decision just a year away on whether to adopt the Belhar Confession as a fourth confessional standard for the Christian Reformed Church, Korean churches in Classis Pacific Hanmi (a regional group of Korean-speaking Christian Reformed churches) held a discussion, as have Christian Reformed churches in many other regions.
Led by Rev. Hyung Ju Park, secretary of the classis; Rev. John Seho Oh, president of the Korean CRC Council; and Rev. Tong Park, Korean ministry director for Christian Reformed Home Missions, 15 pastors gathered to discuss the confession in February.
Rev. Peter Borgdorff, executive director emeritus of the CRC, represented the denomination’s Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations Committee, providing a background for the CRC’s consideration of the Belhar.
Other districts of Korean churches have also been holding discussions in preparation for the upcoming Korean Council annual meeting in Orlando, Fla., in May.
