Wisconsin Elder Drives to Synod in Classic Style

Elder Alan Bliek, Classis Wisconsin, trekked 437 miles (approximately 700 kilometers) for Synod 2011.

He drove his 2-door 1937 Chevrolet to Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Mich. “As long as I’ve got to come to synod, it would be a lot more fun to drive that car,” Bliek said.

Bliek first found the rusty car in 1974 and has been fixing it up ever since, adding an automatic transition and air conditioning. “When we take a car like that and make it new, that’s really what God does in our own lives,” said Bliek.
