According to Rod Vander Ley, retired pastor of Tacoma (Wash.) Christian Reformed Community Church, Watson broke through a snow crust and fell into the creek below. Rescuers reached him, but he died en route to the hospital.
Watson served congregations in North Carolina and Washington. At the time of his death, he was on loan to Kent Covenant Church. His ministerial credentials were held by Tacoma Community CRC. He was also an instructor at Green River Community College.
“He had a passion to maintain the truth of the Word of God, and kept us all informed in the Christian Reformed Church by e-mail. He will be greatly missed by all of us who loved and respected him,” said Vander Ley.
Watson is survived by his wife, Jamie (Jungsoon), and four children, ages 11 to 17.
