A strong season ended in a well-earned Michigan Division II state baseball championship for the Grand Rapids (Mich.) Christian High baseball team.

Coach Brent Gates led the team to a 36-5 season, which set a school record.
Kurt Hoekstra, Dave Pluymert, Alex VandeVusse, Dave VanVliet, Joel Schipper, and Travis Kraai were all named All Conference and All District Players.
“We were ranked either 1st or 2nd in the state all year,” says Gates, “after returning many players from the previous year, where we lost in the state finals.”
