Three Christian Reformed Church members were honored this spring with national recognition by the Word Guild, an organization that honors outstanding Canadian Christian writers.

Calvin College philosophy professor James K.A. Smith’s book, You Are What You Love: The Spiritual Power of Habit, has received the Grace Irwin Award as the best Christian book of the year.

Hans Boersma, a professor at Regent College at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, and who attends Immanuel Christian Reformed Church in Langley, B.C., received honorable mention in the Grace Irwin Award category for his book Sacramental Preaching.

Rudy Eikelboom, who attends Waterloo (Ont.) CRC was recognized by the Word Guild for his column series “Artificial Intelligence II” and “Artificial Intelligence III,” published in Christian Courier.

“I’m so grateful to the Word Guild for championing Christian letters and for its commitment to the word, and to the Word become flesh, for supporting the importance of writing and thinking and the value of Christian publishing,” Smith said in a video from his Grand Rapids, Mich., home, as he accepted the award.
