Abygale Ahn, 16, and Cassandra Lee, 15, competed for Timothy Christian Schools of Elmhurst, Ill., in the final state tournament held Oct. 19-21, in Buffalo Grove, Ill.,—taking home a third- place finish, the first medal for the school in girls doubles’ tennis.
Ahn attends Elmhurst (Ill.) Christian Reformed Church with her family and Lee and her family attend Christ Church in Oak Brook, Ill.
“Even though we had a couple tough matches our last day and maybe didn't play as well as we hoped, it was a great learning experience and outcome,” Ahn said. “We all believe that Cassie and I can win next year as a team and we are even more motivated now, so I think we will get another chance at being state champs next year.”
At Elmhurst CRC, Ahn helps with children's worship and is a middle school youth leader. Lee is participating in confirmation classes in her faith community. They achieved their third-place finish in doubles’ tennis among 320 teams who entered in the State Series.
